The Bugil Academy GLP academic honesty is designed to promote intellectual pursuits that benefit not only the individual, but also the community itself through the adherence and upholding of high ethical standards. Violations of the academic honesty policy include plagiarism and any other action in which students complete or submit academic work in a dishonest manner (e.g., copying homework, cheating on tests and quizzes, etc.). Instructors are obligated to report all acts of academic dishonesty to the Head Instructor, who will then inform appropriate administrators. The process for dealing with acts of academic dishonesty is defined below:

First Offense: Counseling

• Student receives a score of zero for the assignment without any chance to resubmit the work.
• The violation is recorded in the student's file.
• Parents are notified of the violation.
• The faculty mentor, teacher, and administrators will meet with the student to discuss:
  a) the reasons for the infraction.
  b) how the student can avoid such violations in the future (all discussion content is private and confidential).

Second Offense: Suspension

• Student receives a score of zero for the assignment without any chance to resubmit the work.
• The violation is recorded on the student's permanent record (including the transcript).
• Parents are notified of the violation and must meet with the student, teacher, and administrators to discuss the duration and location of the in-school suspension.

Third Offense: Recommended Expulsion

• Student receives a score of zero for the assignment without any chance to resubmit the work.
• The violation is recorded on the student's permanent record (including the transcript).
• The administration will recommend expulsion to the student's parents.

Instructors reserve the right and authority (under extenuating circumstances) to administer one warning to any student for his/her first plagiarism violation. This warning is not mandatory and students will not receive any further warnings for any future plagiarism offenses. Warnings should be reported to the Dean of Faculty.

For instances of academic dishonesty beyond the third offense, the Director will administer discipline on an individual basis.
